About Simon
Simon has had some form of involvement with music and radio for most of his grown up life (call me what you will, but not grown up SW) From listening to radio and helping run a station that played to the local youth club. Real work came in the form of installing milking parlours all over England’s South East.
Then came the joint venture of running a mobile disco as an additional earner, this ran for several years, it was famed locally and always ended the night with Talking In Your Sleep by Crystal Gale. This project was sold at Simon’s first attempt at growing up, his 2nd, 3rd & 4th were Marriage, Simon Jnr. & Vicky.
A change of career came by moving out of milk and into water, at a water treatment plant! (same dam bills kept coming in SW) As Simon said, “my difficult years were my 30’s, too old to disco too young to retire” How times have changed, now clubs and discos are full of all age groups. Simon had to much to drink one night (only one night? SW) and landed himself with a wedding job - well providing the music, this led into hospital radio were he rebuilt the studio with twin decks, reel to reel and mixer, he modified cassette’s to have no lead-in and only a short length of tape, jingles were then recorded both sides and so needed no cueing up! .
Now after several Radio station jobs, Simon continues to maintain his radio links by providing group and one to one training for people who are going to work for community stations. Simon Attended a Media Skill course at Portsmouth College, where Sarah Kennedy (BBC R2) was a tutor.
For the last three years Simon has presented his own show on Sky West, and BLR FM and now for Radio Caroline Spain.
